High on the agenda are a workshop underscoring the sustainable development of tourism in the Mekong Delta region and introducing tourism projects, tourism potentialities and cultural features of the different countries.
The event, running until December 5, will also feature a photo exhibition, arts performances, sports competitions and a fund-raiser for poor children in the Mekong sub-region.
The activities are expected to contribute to the success of the Mekong-Japan exchange year by bolstering friendship and cooperation among Mekong sub-region countries and stepping up the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Main activities of the Mekong-Japan Tourism and Culture Festival:
- December 2 at Can Tho Stadium: Opening ceremony
- December 2-5 at Hoa Su Restaurant: a fair and a photo exhibition on tourism and culture of Mekong-Japan
- December 2-5 at Ninh Kieu Ward and in Can Tho City: traditional artistic performances of Mekong-Japan
- December 4: Mekong-Japan Marathon Competition
- December 3-4 on Cai Khe Islet on the Hau River: volleyball for women
- December 5 around Can Tho City: fund-raising walk themed 'For poor children in the Mekong sub-region'
